U.S. Marine Corps
Fighting Squadron 224
"Squadron Scrap Book"

Welcome to 224's Squadron Scrap Book

This web-site offers insight into the dedication and service of those individuals who served with Marine Fighting Squadron 224 beginning with the squadrons formation as VMF-224 in 1942.  The initial focus of this site was VMF-224's WWII activities, however, the focus has now expanded to document the squadron's history over the past 70 plus years of service.  This is not a detailed history, but rather a collection of documents, recollections and images that depict the everyday life of one Marine squadron.  Not all of the images are of the highest quality but they do help to document the history of one of the Marine Corps oldest aviation units.  There is also some information on this site relating to other units associated with 224 linked to the "Misc. Info & Links" page.

If you served with Marine Fighting Squadron 224, or if you are a family member, we would like to hear from you.

Please check back often since this site will be
up-dated as new information is received.
