Based at Dyess Field, Roi Island - Operating from Roi Island
15 June 1944
Mission: Dive-bomb heavy AA guns at B-1, Wotje Island, and strafe from Wotje to Cheratakku Islands, Wotje Atoll.
Take Off Time: 1422 hrs
Squadron Aircraft: Four (4) F4U-1's with 1ea 500 pound GPs with 0.1 sec. nose & tail fuse setting.
VMF-224 Pilots Participating: Captain IRISH and Lts. GRAHAM, PRYOR and LINDQUIST.
Other U.S. or Allied Aircraft: VB-144 - 1ea PV-1 based at Roi Island.

Tactical Data: Dive-bombing runs were started at 8,000' and releases were at about 1,800' with a dive angle of 75 degrees. Flight then strafed Wotje, Egemedio and eno Cheratakku Islands.
